    Many of our Year 11 catering students have finished their coursework and have completed the final practical’s. This year’s students have been particularly talented with their creativity around meal construction and nutritionally balanced menus. Their commitment has not just been towards their exams, throughout the year they have created cakes and buns for charity and school events.     The academy's catering will be managed by Chartwells Catering Services with effect from 1st June 2015.  This is an exciting opportunity and we are looking forward to the introduction of the new menus. (See below).

    There will be no change to current methods of payment or the availablilty of free school meals.

  • Art and Photography

    17th May 2015 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Over the spring term all Year 7 Art students researched and designed a picture based on the theme of ‘Jesus in Art’. They picked a story about Jesus and then for homework they had to collect resources for this idea, before drawing out a composition and choosing the best media for their picture. The finished A4 piece was then entered into our yearly Year 7 Art and RE cross curricular competition. Below are a few examples of some student’s lovely work:

  • Saturday Morning Maths

    16th May 2015 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Saturday morning Maths is starting for Year 10 from 16 May until 15 July and continuing from September onwards.The Maths department has implemented new intervention strategies much earlier to support students to avoid the 'last minute' catch-up as the GCSE exams approach in Year 11.Year 10 students have been issued with revision study guides and workbooks.  These have been offered to all students but they needed to return the reply slip signed by parents in order to claim them.With effect from 1 June, all s

    Our little Tigers had a fabulous morning this Tuesday visiting our local farm to feed the animals, meet their babies and enjoy a very exciting tractor and trailer ride.  The sun was even shining too!

    Our Pandas enjoyed a fantastic day out this week as they visited the Tropical Butterfly House near Sheffield.  The children spent the day finding out about habitats, conservation, fur, feathers and scales.  We met and learnt about some very interesting animals, reptiles and mini beasts.  We also bumped into a few dinosaurs!

  • Young Enterprise 2015

    15th May 2015 - Melior Community Academy

    The year 10's from the Young Enterprise competition attended Baths Halls in Scunthorpe last week for the regional finals and picked up an award for Social, Ethical and Environmental development for their business Bespoke Gifts.

    They did very well to compete against 7 other schools from across the region, were put in front of a panel of judges to discuss all aspects of their business and then they had to present to close to 100 people.

    Congratulations to M Falshaw, C Clapton and N Bradley.

  • Our Sporty Charity Day

    Thank you to everyone who has contributed in some way to the local charity we are supporting the Eve Merton's Trust.

    Eve MertonTrust is a Doncaster based support charity for local families dealing with serious or terminal cancer. They contacted the Academy back in February to ask if we had a teacher who would take part in their Teacher's v's Legends charity football match at the Keepmoat Stadium to help raise them fund raise. Mr Jones kindly agreed and has been putting himself through weekly training session

    Ash Hill Academy students Katie Bagnall and Jade Kerry were part of the Hatfield Fliers Team who were runners up 2014/15 in the Under 16 Girls North Basketball League.

  • Sporting Success at Manor Croft Academy

    14th May 2015 - Manor Croft Academy

    Manor Croft Academy has a number of sports stars who may well be making it to the big time. Our Year 7 Rugby team managed to secure the ‘Dennis Trotter Memorial Trophy’ as they recorded five out of five wins in the recent Kirklees competition.

    Continuing with the rugby theme we have two students Year 10 students; Josh Pinder and Joe Summers who have both secured two year scholarships with Wakefield Wildcats. They have both been playing up an age group for the past season and have so far been undefeated.
