  • Parent Support Group

    16th October 2015 - The Grove Academy

    The Grove Academy is facilitating a support group for parents. The group is the brainchild of one of our parents who felt she wanted to highlight some of the challenges parents in Harrogate are facing. The aim of the group is to support those parents who are struggling  in whatever way. She has recently  attended a network day in Birmingham which focussed on  child sexual exploitation. There are so many negative influences on young people today that parents sometimes find it difficult to monitor their child

    16th October 2015 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Congratulations to Megan Grant who is through to the semi finals of the 'Golden Apron' competition which takes place on Saturday 24th October.  

    The competition is in it's third year and is open to 14-19 year olds throughout Yorkshire. The semi finals will take place at The Yorkshire Wolds Cookery School where Megan will cook her submitted dish in the morning and a dish set by Michelin Star Chef, James Mackenzie, in the afternoon.  Dishes will be judged on innovation, presentation and use of local produce.


  • Year 5 Bikeability Award Assembly

    This morning the whole school and year 5 parents were invited to attended an award ceremony for our year 5 students to receive their certificates and badges from Bikeability First steps Cycle. They all passed levels 1 and 2, well done year 5 we are very proud of you.

  • Macmillan Coffee Morning

    16th October 2015 - Wybers Wood Academy

    Wybers Wood Tearooms were open this morning to help raise money for Macmillan.  A big thank you to all our visitors and everyone who donated such yummy cakes!

    Well done to our School Councillors who waited the tables beautifully. 

    We raised £112.57.  Thank you very much.

  • Year 7 Film Premier

    15th October 2015 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Students, staff and parents had a great evening on Thursday 15 October 2015 at the Old Library Theatre in Mansfield. Students, families and friends were invited to watch the premier screening of the film they had created during the Summer School Programme.

    The film, titled "The Found", was showcased to an enthusiastic audience and they were overwhelmed by the quality of the production.

    Year 5 enjoyed a visit from local author Tracey Todd who talked to them about their favourite books and read an extract from her own book 'Unscanned.'

  • Active-Eat-y Club

    15th October 2015 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Thank you to all the parents who came and joined our Active'Eat-Y Club with Sarah from Active Fusion. The club runs every Thursday after school and is open to years 1 and 2. During the session children get to join in some fun and active games plus enjoy healthy foods and treats! We thought it would be great for parents to come and see what happens and join in!

  • 11-18 Travel Pass

    15th October 2015 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Students aged between 11-18 living in South Yorkshire can get discounted travel with an 11-16 Mega Travel pass or a 16-18 student pass. The pass is free and you can travel on any bus or tram in South Yorkshire for 70p per journey. No pass means full fare!   • Doncaster Book Awards

    14th October 2015 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Students visited Doncaster Dome on 1st October for the launch of this year's Doncaster Book Awards where the guest speaker was David Baddiel who spoke about his book 'The Parent Agency'. 

    The Doncaster Book Award is a volunteer led, not for profit organisation committed to improving literacy levels by getting all children reading for pleasure.  Children read and review books on their website and then vote for their favourites with the winning books being announced in a final in the spring.

  • First World War battlefields visit.

    14th October 2015 - De Warenne Academy

    Two Year 11 students represented the academy as part of the First World War Centenary Battlefields Programme which is a government-funded project that allows two students from every school across the country to visit the battlefields in Ypres and the Somme. Liam Lynskey and Keanan  Rolph were joined by students from schools across South Yorkshire and the Midlands.

    Congratulations to our Year 8 Rugby Team for an outstanding performance against Mirfield Free Grammar School winning 30 points to 10.  The match was an away game which took place on Tuesday 13 October 2015.

    Yesterday two of our community officers, PCSO Aaron Riley and Richard Shaw visited Simpson's Lane Academy.

    During this time, they held a school gate surgery where they engaged with parents, before conducting a truancy sweep of the surrounding area.

  • Box Clever Theatre Company visit

    13th October 2015 - John Whitgift Academy

     On Thursday 8th October Box Clever theatre company came in to perform 'The Hate Play' - a play about the dangers of turning a blind eye to bullying - for Year 8 and Year 9 students. The play was energetic and informative, and many students picked up on the important message it communicated. Twenty-eight year 9 students then took part in a workshop, where they had the change to write their own monologues for one of the five professional actors to perform. It was a very enjoyable experience for all involved!
