    We are delighted to announce the results of our Young Writers Poetry Trials competition. A record breaking 158 students of our Academy have had their poems accepted for publication!

  • Prison Me! No-Way!

    Last week our Year 9 took part in the Prison Me! No-Way! workshops. 

    Prison Me! No-Way! is a national educational charity with a core aim of raising awareness among young people about the causes, consequences and penalties of crime.

  • Postcards of Hope

    5th July 2016 - The Elland Academy

    Last Thursday, July 31st, the ‘Postcards of Hope Project’ came to its natural conclusion and all students involved gathered together to celebrate their collective achievement. Over 35 postcards were decorated and handed in, with a variety of wonderful and compassionate messages that honoured the set task.

    All the postcards were lain out for everyone to examine, while they ate their reward of the customary bacon butty.

    On the 100th anniversary of the Somme students put on a fantastic play highlighting how recruits from our area ended up in the battle.

    We were so proud of the children for showing off their skills at the 14th Skipping Festival.  A big thank you to the parents for coming to show their support as well.

    Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined their children to walk on the wildside!

    Lots of animal masks were made during the family craft session, which we received a great response to.

    Your support has been fantastic this year and we look forward to working with you all in year 2!

    4th July 2016 - Melior Community Academy

    The National Union of Teachers (NUT), who represent some of our teachers, have voted to take industrial action in the form of a one-day strike on Tuesday, 5th July 2016.

    The disruption created by this strike day, and the need to have regard to the health and safety of pupils, has been assessed and as a result the decision has been made to REMAIN OPEN and we are satisfied there is no risk to pupils' welfare

  • Recycling at the Grove Academy

    The Grove Academy did more than it's bit for recycling on Friday 24th June. Students spent a long time sorting through years worth paper, card, palstic etc. The students' did a grand job and were amazed at how much reusable items they could reclaim from the mountain of 'rubbish' they had started off with.

  • Summer Fair

    On Friday we had our summer fair. We raised over £500 pounds. We love coming together for this community event, putting our proud academy at the heart of our community. Thank you to all our friends, parents/carers and families for your magnificent support again. As ever, it is appreciated.

    Every summer the Academy holds the Estcourt Art Competition to commemorate the contribution Mrs Blanchard made our Academy during her time with us. The competition will be judged in July and prizes will be given for the overall winners from Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2. Art work can be in any medium: this could be painting, drawing, pastels, crayon, inks, chalks, clay, papier-mâché, and needlecraft, any form of sculpture or collage.     Students were an absolute credit to themselves commemorating the 100th anniversary of the battle of the Somme. Students, led by Mr Kitson, rehearsed and performed a moving short play about the recruitment of the Leeds Lads, many of whom were cut down at the Somme.
