Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Year 6 rocket blast!

    28th April 2016 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    A massive thank you to all the family members of year 6, who gave up their time to help us make our stomp rockets. It was a fun and crazy afternoon, there were lots of good scientifc ideas about how to make nose cones for the rockets. It was lovely to see so much teamwork and co-operation. I was amazed by the rockets at the end. Fingers crossed we do well in the final at Pheasant bank accademy on Friday 17th June.

    5T experimented how slugs smell. We found that the slug liked COFFEE! He'll be a teacher in the future I'm sure!

    It was cold and wet but our netball team did us proud at the competion held at Healing School.

  • A sandwich for Tesco

    28th April 2016 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    After our trip to Tesco's we received a letter asking us to design a healthy sandwich!

    We had to draw it, list the ingredients and write the instructions. Then we made our sandwiches and ate them to check they were good enough for Tesco's customers!

  • Crucial Crew

    28th April 2016 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    Our Y6 pupils recently visited the Life Wise centre in Rotherham. During their visit, they completed a number of activities to learn what to do in a range of situations, including: road safety, emergency first aid, alcohol awareness, using the bus safely, internet safety, fire safety and much more. The children also participated in a mock trial at a magistrate court and learned about how to handle issues such as peer pressure. It was a very fun and informative day.

    Last week a group of our Year 11 students went on an introductory kayaking session at Glasshouses Dam. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day that  started off dry but became progressively wetter as the students became more confident and insisted upon splashing the teachers at every opportunity!

  • Football :North Lincs School U15 Shield

    27th April 2016 - Melior Community Academy

    Melior were triumphant on 27th April in the North Lincs School U15 Shield.

    Our Year 10 boys football team won the North Lincs School Under-15 Shield after a closely fought match with Sir John Nelthorpe School.

    The match was won on penalties (9-8) after a 1-1 draw, Connor Moore being our goalscorer. Well Done!

  • Look at our new library wall!

    27th April 2016 - Wybers Wood Academy

    After many years of being on our wish list, we have finally got our library wall painted.  The design has been chosen by all our pupils through their Class Council Meetings.  We have a woodland scene which includes all the animals from our class names and Nutkin!

    27th April 2016 - Garforth Academy

    On Monday 25th April 2016 Alessandro Creazza from Hull University presented at our careers club, he was both extremely friendly and approachable, with a very interesting background.

    Alessandro discussed what life is like is like at University, balancing work/ social life, choosing the right course, student loans and grants etc.


    The session was very informative and we had a good turnout from all year groups.

    All our breakfast club staff and pupils enjoyed celebrating the Queens 90th Birthday with a full english breakfast to start off the day.

    Year 3 & 4 pupils attended the South Yorkshire Cross Country finals after qualifying from the regional heats in Doncaster earlier on this year.

    Staff and pupils were pleased to welcome our special visitors from Merksplas on Friday 22nd April 2016. They joined in with our celebration assembly and helped us celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday.

    Year 3 were filled with awe and wonder seeing some incredible creatures and finding out about rivers & seas during their visit to The Deep in Hull. 

  • Digital Art: Monday 25th April

    In preparation for being part of the City of Culture, some of our chidlren enjoyed a Digital Art day with the Children's University. They made apps and videos to promote the Hull Maritime Museum to tourists. The children returned from the visit very enthusiastic and couldnt wait to showcase their work to others. 

  • LEAP – Sweet Cycled

    25th April 2016 - The South Leeds Academy

    As you will already be aware, Reece Pratt, Jack Marsden and Lewis Billcliffe have been taking part in the LEAP company programme since the start of this year and created their company Sweet Cycled. They attended trade fairs in November and February selling their product; novelty key rings, necklaces and magnets. At the Valentines trade fair in February, they received an Innovation Award for their innovative product, and will be attending an awards ceremony in May to receive their prestigious award.
