  • Visit to London

    22nd November 2017 - De Lacy Academy

    Some of our Lead Out Loud students travelled to London yesterday to visit the Houses of Parliament.

    They met with Yvette Cooper and discussed what matters to them about their local community. Students also got the chance to observe from the gallery to listen to Boris Johnson debating in the House of Lords.

     

     

  • Countdown to Christmas Attendance Awards

    22nd November 2017 - Serlby Park Academy

    A ‘Countdown to Christmas’ attendance rewards event is taking place each week for secondary pupils. A year group draw will happen each week for any student who has had 100% attendance that week. Students can win up to £30 each week. Please see the pupils below who have already been attendance winners!

    Many thanks to all for Friday's contributions towards Children in Need. So far we have raised £203 as an academy. As a staff we were amazed by some of our children's wondefully creative outfits!!

  • Football Champions

    21st November 2017 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    We are Garforth Schools UKS2 Football Champions 2017! Both the A and B teams played some super football during the tournament on Monday 20th November - we are all very proud.

     

    All schools playing (East Garforth, Ninelands, St. Benedicts, Strawberry Fields and us) entered two teams. Green Lane A won all four of their group games which meant they progressed to the final where they played Strawberry Fields in a play off to see who won the tournament - and we came out winners 2-0.     We are putting a call out to all former students of Ash Hill Academy, Hatfield Visual Arts College and Hatfield High School! We would like to reconnect with you, by joining other former students as a member of our Alumni Network.

    Today is Children in Need day. We have been wearing spotty clothes! In assembly, we have thought about how lucky we are, and how our donations can help those children less fortunate than ourselves.

    We raised an impressive £193.

     

  • Anti-bullying week

    This week has been anti-bullying week. We have been thinking about what a bully looks like (could be anybody) and the types of bullying which can happen. However, we have also thought about the opposite. We have been thinking about kindness and love. Friendship and care. We have thought about how we are all different and all equal.

  • KS4 Self-Reliant Journey

    17th November 2017 - The Grove Academy

    Students attending our KS4 Outdoor Education Course have just completed their first self-reliant journey. They spent part of last term learning navigation skills and working without the direct supervision of adults in order to gain the skills needed for the challenge.

    They had to proceed independently on foot and by public transport to Fox Wood near Brimham Rocks whilst carrying all their equipment for a night under the stars, the main challenge being that this took place in darkness, thus increasing the nav

  • KS4 felting UPDATE!!! 14.11.17

    17th November 2017 - The Grove Academy

    The three pupils thoroughly enjoyed exploring the ruins, sketching and photographing views that would give them inspiration for their prints.  They were also intrigued by a photo shoot with models posing infront of the cellarium.  We guessed something like Nike.

    They each produced varied felts, from gothic, to impressionism, to expressionism.  Amazing.  The work will go towards their GCSE, Art portfolio.

    There will be a variety of different activities happening across school tomorrow including a tuck shop for you to spend your pocket money. All monies raised will go to Children in Need. Students should be in normal school uniform tomorrow.
