  • Celebrating Success - Maths,English & Science

    27th February 2017 - De Warenne Academy

    To give a boost to students in the run up to the summer exams, De Warenne Academy has held an Y11 Celebrating Success in Maths, English and Science assembly this morning. A number of students have been recognised for improving grades or marks from the beginning of the year. Mrs Rooney also delivered a presentation detailing the countdown the exams and highlighted how important every aspect of the process is.     WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!

     De Lacy have won the Wakefield girls rugby competition.

    Our year 7, 8 & 9 girls had some brilliant matches, they won every game against seven different schools.

  • POST 16 OPEN EVENING

    24th February 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    On Tuesday 28th February the academy will be hosting a Post 16 Open Evening, to allow students and their families to gain information about Further Education courses, including those on offer by C6 Collegiate Sixth Form. The event will begin at 5.30pm and close at 7.30pm.

    In attendance will also be representatives from Leeds Beckett University, to provide information, advice and guidance regarding Higher Education courses. We look forward to seeing you there.

    West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue delivered a very informative session to our Y5's about being safe in the car as well as being aware of fire safety in the home. Thank you to them for helping us to keep our children safe.

    We welcomed mums, dads and relatives to school today to hear about the fantastic time we had at Robinwood. The photos are now all available on the Robinwood page in the Teaching and Learning section of the website. What lovely memories we have. The children were a credit to their parents as well as the school! Bring on next year!

  • Swap shop restocked!

    Our Swap Shop is restocked and ready to go for the second half of the school year. Pupil Points is aprt of our brilliant Good to be Green policy. Pupils in years 1-6 collect points fo rall sorts of green behaviour. They can then come and spend thier points at the shop. The shopkeepers are Y6 pupils who earn points too for thier hard work!

  • Wakefield Cathedral Shrove Tuesday Event

    Wakefield Cathedral have launched the Giving Campaign which coincides with Pancake Day and the season of Lent.  Traditionally Lent would be a period of fasting or giving something up – they are asking that people give something instead. Local foodbanks have provided a shopping list of the items that they regularly give out:-

  • Careers & Vocational Drop-Down

    21st February 2017 - The Elland Academy
    This afternoon The Elland Academy launched a drop down afternoon for all students.
     
    Years 10 and 11 were given the opportunity to learn about effective communication and develop their interview skills, student also had the chance to create letters of application for future career pathways and develop their CV'S.
     
    Years 8 and 9 were given the opportunity to choose and explore a vocational area with taster sessions including Motor Vehicle Mechhanincs, Art and Catering.

  • Opportunity to study Motor Vehicle Mechanics

    21st February 2017 - The Elland Academy
    The Yr9 students were sent on taster day to Lenton Drive to see what the Motor Vehicle Mechanics course was all about and whether it would be a possible vocation in life for the future.
     
    The students came full of enthusiasm and with a bit of concern as they didn't know what to expect on their two hour visit into the world of Motor Vehicles. The students were given a small health and safety lecture and then a test of mental agility was carried out, which the students did very well on.

  • Miss Anfield's visit to Kenya

    21st February 2017 - De Lacy Academy

    On Miss Anfield's annual trip to Africa, she was visiting a village called Maungu in Tsavo East National Park, Kenya. Prior to the visit, the chief villagers requested donation of babies' clothes and bras for the local people and sports equipment for schools.

    Miss Anfield approached Minsthorpe and Castleford Academies to support the trip as well as De Lacy. The three schools all gathered together old sports equipment from their PE departments. This totalled over 40kg of balls, nets, cones and bibs for three
