  • Harewood House

    24th May 2018 - Whetley Academy
    On 10th May 2018, year 4 went on an amazing trip to Harewood House in Leeds as a part of our Rich and Poor topic and to support our writing.
    We explored the magnificent Harewood House, which still belongs to Lascelles family. They are aristocrats closely related to the Royal family. After exploring the State Floor rooms full of famous Chippendale furniture, we went to see Below Stairs area, where servants and maids lived.
     
    After that we looked around the famous Bird Garden and even played in an adventure play
  • Sporting Stars

    24th May 2018 - Whetley Academy

    The pupils at Whetley Academy have been very busy taking part in a variety of sports tournaments recently.

    The girls got to the quarter finals of the Marley Football Tournament, the boys also played really well in their Tournament at Marley Stadium, and the Year 5 boys Basketball team came 3rd at Zara Sports Centre.

    Once again the pupils were very well behaved, and were a real credit to the school.

  • Cricket competition

    23rd May 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    We were very proud to take two team teams to the Garforth heats of the UKS2 cricket competition for the first time on Monday. Our boys and girls played with great determination, focus and enthusiasm. Whilst many members of the squad have been developing their skills by attending the after-school cricket club with Garforth cricket coach Pete Dawson, for most this was their first time playing cricket in a competitive situation.   • Serlby Park Reading Challenge Update

    22nd May 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

    The last day for our pupils to achieve Gold Level (20 books) in this years' Reading Challenge is fast approaching.

    All signed and dated reading challenge cards must be received by class teachers or Mrs Peel in the Library no later than Friday 15th June 2018.

    Bronze and Silver and Platinum Awards will continue until Thursday 29th July.

    Well done everyone who is taking part and making this our best reading year ever!

    Please note school will close at 3.30pm on Friday 25th May for the half term holidays. School will reopen to pupils on Tuesday 5th June at 8.45am. Staff training day on Monday 4th June.

  • Construction Enterprise Day

    21st May 2018 - Mersey Primary Academy

    On Friday 18th May, some children from years 4/5 went to Endeavour Skills & Learning Centre for a Construction Enterprise Day organised by Keepmoat Homes. They learnt all about the different careers within the construction industry, built a giant tetrahedron and had a go at building their very own wall. They had a fantastic day meeting other children from different schools. Some of the skills they used included Team work,problem solving, communication,planning and initiative.

     

  • Year 4 cricket finalists

    21st May 2018 - Whetley Academy

    Last Thursday our Year 4 Cricket Team played in a local tournament and won all their matches and scored a staggering 694 runs.  Due to their amazing performance they have secured a place in the final.

    Congratulations to the team, well done and good luck for the final.

  • Half Term Exam Intervention Sessions

    20th May 2018 - Ash Hill Academy

    All students are invited to attend our exam preparation sessions which will take place over the half term holiday.  These will be a great way for students to get ready for their forthcoming exams.

    Students should ensure that they arrive in time for the beginning of each session and should enter school through the side entrance.
