    A huge well done to our athletics team who won the Delta Games yesterday. 16 primary schools from within the trust took part.

    We are very proud of all the children who took part.

  • Times Tables Rockstars

    6th July 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    This year, Green Lane attended the Leeds Rock Wrangle. This is an annual competition organised by the Times Tables Rock Stars team. A team of three year 6s got to compete against children from all over the city. The speed and accuracy of times table recall at the event was tremendous and we came back inspired to continue our great work in promoting these skills at our academy.

    6th July 2018 - The Vale Academy

    Victorious students returned to The Vale Academy after being crowned champions at the Delta Academies’ Games for the sixth successive year.


    The under 15 and under 13 teams beat 12 secondaries from across the Yorkshire and Humber region at the annual athletics event, held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

    A thrilled PE teacher Nicola Hewitt said there had been fantastic individual and team performances.

  • Y5 visit to Leeds Grand Mosque

    Y5 visited the Mosque in Leeds yesterday, please read Zack's account of the visit.

    After we arrived at the mosque, a man talked to us about when Muslims came to pray and he also sang to us the Arabic call to prayer. Next he told us about the five beliefs of Muslims including the prophets and the messengers and that there is one God. A different man talked to us about the five pillars: praying, fasting, Hajj, Zakat and declaration of faith. Afterwards a woman talked to us about the different versions of the Q

  • KS1 trip

    5th July 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    This week Key Stage 1 children visited the Rainbow Factory in Pudsey.

    KS1 enjoyed a trip to the Rainbow Factory to investigate the case of the missing story staff. They used finger printing, e-fits and worked out the Gingerbread Man’s clues to find out who committed the crime. They also got to meet famous story characters like the Big Bad Wolf and the Fairy Godmother.

  • Quality in Careers Standard

    5th July 2018 - Manor Croft Academy

    We are delighted to announce that Manor Croft Academy has been awarded the Quality in Careers Standard.  This is the National quality award for Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG).  It recognises the fact that as a school we are providing a high level careers experience for our students at all age groups.  The assessment process was rigorous, including the submission of a detailed portfolio of evidence followed by a day long inspection.  Recommendations and feedback was then sent to

  • JWA Careers Hub raising student aspirations

    4th July 2018 - John Whitgift Academy

    JWA has been working closely with project Flying HighER and the National Collaborative Outreach Programme, with the aim of raising the aspirations of all our students and supporting them on pathways into further and higher education. The recently refurbished careers hub, (now in N2, having moved from N11) has certainly raised the interest of many students and staff with its bright green décor and vibrant displays.

    As part of our World Cup celebrations, our library organised a football poetry competition for pupils in KS2. We were really impressed with all the entries and the winning poets received their prizes during assembly.

    Mrs Westerman-Smith, Assistant Principal for English, has recently been nominated for ‘Inspirational Mentor Award’ by Sheffield Hallam University. Mrs Westerman-Smith has been working with Miss Howley and Miss Cooper on helping them to complete their QTS award as part of their Teach First programme.

    2nd July 2018 - The Vale Academy

    Natural detectives were unearthed at The Vale when a forensic psychologist spoke to Year 8s.

    John Hartland, who has worked with convicted criminals in various prisons and is now a lecturer at Leeds Beckett University and The University Centre Grimsby, met the Scholars’ Programme students.

    Mr Hartland was “amazed” with our students’ intelligence and maturity, said Nicola Elvin, Scholars’ Programme Coordinator.

    UKS2 parents and children enjoyed a wonderful morning in the sun on Friday trying American football. Chris Jones, from NFL UK, came to lead the 45 minute session. Children and parents got to learn how to tackle, throw and catch an American football. There was a wonderful atmosphere as parents and children spent time together taking part in sport.
