Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Charlie and Chocolate Factory Experience

    23rd January 2018 - Mersey Primary Academy

    Monday 18th December saw the first of our new reward experiences. The children could use their credits to take part in the'Charlie and Chocolate Factory' experience. There were lots of different activities happening  in the hall.


  • Dentist at GLPA

    22nd January 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    Year 2 had a workshop about how to keep our teeth healthy and clean from dentist Dr. Eggleton (Erin's mum).  The children loved practising brushing the giant teeth, learning about how much sugar is in some of our favourite drinks, were grossed out by horrible decaying teeth, were fascinated by some x-rays, and even got a toothpaste sample to take home!

    19th January 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    The BBC and the Premier League are working in partnership on a new initiative called Super Movers.It helps children to become more active throughout their school day to enhance their learning and get them moving in the classroom.


    Year 3 and Year 4 took part in the live lesson of fun, active maths where Alex Scott MBE joined CBBC favourites Ben Shires and Naomi Wilkinson to showcase Super Movers content.

  • Burrows 'Search for a Star'

    19th January 2018 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Today our Year 11 students had an assembly with Burrows motor company. They learnt about a new and exciting apprenticeship programme “Search for a Star”. The programme is aimed at young individuals who are looking to kick start their career within the motor industry.     School Gateway - We’re making communication easier, faster and more effective

    We are pleased to announce that we are introducing a new text and email service called the ‘School  Gateway’. This means that we can communicate with parents more quickly and cost effectively via email, text and smartphone app.

  • University of Lincoln Philosophy Competition

    University of Lincoln are hosting a philosophy competition. Entries need to evaluate What is Love? Entries need to be no longer than 1500 words. Winners will receive £100.

    This week a coach from Leeds Rhinos came to teach Year 2 some early rugby skills. The children really enjoyed the session.

  • Leeds Book Awards

    18th January 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    Year 5 are taking part in the Leeds Book Awards and our first book review has been published online - well done Charlotte.

    Leeds Book Awards started in 2009 and has evolved into a successful city wide initiative, run jointly between Leeds School Library Service and Leeds Public Libraries.

    The Award is now a fantastic opportunity for pupils aged  9- 11, 11-14 and 14-16 to take part and vote for the best children’s and young people’s (CYP) books published in the last year.

  • Run, Hide, Tell.

    18th January 2018 - Manor Croft Academy

    This week we are running assemblies on the governments drive to educate people on what to do in the rare event of a terrorist attack.  The campaign is called ‘Run, Hide, Tell’ and gives young people really good advice on how to respond if they are unfortunate enough to be caught up in a terrorist attack.

  • Bus Fares in West Yorkshire - Updates

    17th January 2018 - The Elland Academy

    Currently all young people in West Yorkshire have to show an Under 16 or 16-18 Photocard to the bus driver to qualify for half-fare travel. One of the changes young people have told Bus18 in feedback is that they wanted to see was automatic half-fare travel when they were in school uniform. They said the fact they are in uniform makes it clear they qualify for the concession. This will now happen from the start of 2018.

  • Year 9 Assembly

    17th January 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

    Year 9 students have had an assembly on the Meninoccal ACWY and Diptheria, Polio and Tetanus Vaccinations by the Immunisation Team based at Retford Hospital.

    They have been informed of the importance of having vaccinations to keep our young students safe.

    These are serious diseases that can be fatal.

  • Dance Show !

    16th January 2018 - Garforth Academy

    Tickets are now on sale for the annual Garforth Academy Dance Club Show.

    The show takes place on Friday 9th February and tickets cost £4 (£3 concessions) and can be purchased from Reception. All profits from this event will be donated to the Candle Lighters charity.

    Over thirty students have been involved in pulling the show together, including choreography, and they all look forward to welcoming you on the night!
