Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Leeds Rhino's visit

    18th January 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    This week a coach from Leeds Rhinos came to teach Year 2 some early rugby skills. The children really enjoyed the session.

  • Leeds Book Awards

    18th January 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

    Year 5 are taking part in the Leeds Book Awards and our first book review has been published online - well done Charlotte.

    Leeds Book Awards started in 2009 and has evolved into a successful city wide initiative, run jointly between Leeds School Library Service and Leeds Public Libraries.

    The Award is now a fantastic opportunity for pupils aged  9- 11, 11-14 and 14-16 to take part and vote for the best children’s and young people’s (CYP) books published in the last year.

  • Run, Hide, Tell.

    18th January 2018 - Manor Croft Academy

    This week we are running assemblies on the governments drive to educate people on what to do in the rare event of a terrorist attack.  The campaign is called ‘Run, Hide, Tell’ and gives young people really good advice on how to respond if they are unfortunate enough to be caught up in a terrorist attack.

  • Bus Fares in West Yorkshire - Updates

    17th January 2018 - The Elland Academy

    Currently all young people in West Yorkshire have to show an Under 16 or 16-18 Photocard to the bus driver to qualify for half-fare travel. One of the changes young people have told Bus18 in feedback is that they wanted to see was automatic half-fare travel when they were in school uniform. They said the fact they are in uniform makes it clear they qualify for the concession. This will now happen from the start of 2018.

  • Year 9 Assembly

    17th January 2018 - Serlby Park Academy

    Year 9 students have had an assembly on the Meninoccal ACWY and Diptheria, Polio and Tetanus Vaccinations by the Immunisation Team based at Retford Hospital.

    They have been informed of the importance of having vaccinations to keep our young students safe.

    These are serious diseases that can be fatal.

  • Dance Show !

    16th January 2018 - Garforth Academy

    Tickets are now on sale for the annual Garforth Academy Dance Club Show.

    The show takes place on Friday 9th February and tickets cost £4 (£3 concessions) and can be purchased from Reception. All profits from this event will be donated to the Candle Lighters charity.

    Over thirty students have been involved in pulling the show together, including choreography, and they all look forward to welcoming you on the night!

  • Bookbuzz Book Review Competition

    Following the launch of our November Bookbuzz Campaign to encourage reading for pleasure in Serlby Park, we are delighted to announce the winners of our latest book review competition.

    We were overwhelmed with the response from our pupils, who were thrilled with their book choices. Pictured here are Piper and Alicia in Year 8 with a brand new book of their choice.

  • Auditions for 'Our Day Out'

    15th January 2018 - De Lacy Academy

    Auditions are being held for Our Day Out on Wednesday 17th January from 2.30pm - 3.15pm in the Drama Studio. We are looking for actors, singers and backstage crew.

  • Y4 Skipping Workshop

    15th January 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

     Year 4 children took part in a skipping workshop where they were taught how to perform different tricks. It was challenging and fun for the children and it was great to see the effort and  teamwork from all the children!

    The final outcome will be 30 children will be attending a competition in April at Garforth Academy.

  • Young Voices

    15th January 2018 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    A huge well done to our year 2 choir for their fabulous effort and contribution to the Young Voices concert at the Sheffield arena this week.

    It is also the last time Mrs Van Steen will be taking the children as the lead choir teacher as she is taking retirement at the end of this month.

  • Young Voices

    15th January 2018 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    We took over 80 children from Year 3 to Year 6 to sing at the Young Voices choir at Sheffield Arena on Monday 15 January 2018.  There were over 5000 children at the event and the children enjoyed singing a range of songs alongside professional singers and dancers.  It was an amazing experience and the children's behaviour was impeccable.  We look forward to going again next year.  Thank you to all the parents who supported the visit.

  • West Yorkshire Playhouse Visit

    12th January 2018 - The Elland Academy

    This week we visited the West Yorkshire Playhouse Costume Department with year 11 Hair & Beauty and Media students. Students gained an insight into what it would be like working for the Theatre and were able to try on costumes to become dapper 20’s Gatsby gents, nurses, doctors and various animals… Including a very large panda! In a few weeks’ time some of these costumes will be used for students whom are acting in our very own horror movie trailer.

  • SATs Boosters

    12th January 2018 - Kingston Park Academy

    In order to support your child to achieve their best in this years SAT’s we are extending the school day on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday  to 3.45pm. We would like all Year 6 pupils to attend all sessions every week. To encourage them to attend we will be rewarding the children who have achieved 100% attendance at boosters after SAT’s week.

    The booster sessions will start Monday 15th January. Please make sure you have completed and returned your child's permission slip.


  • Bikeability

    12th January 2018 - Kingston Park Academy

    We are delighted to be able to offer the Bikeability course in school again this year. Letters will be sent home shortly with full details and dates when your child’s class will be taking part.

    Foundation and KS1 children do not require their own bike but all children in KS2 who would like to take part will require their own bike and helmet. Please see the letter regarding the criteria your child's bike needs to meet to take part.
