    We are incredibly proud to announce that three of our very talented Year 7 students have been successful in having their artwork included on a charity calendar for 2017.

    During their final year at Primary School, the students (Kayleigh Hatton, Freyya-Lillie Haver, and Aisha Magee) entered the 22nd Walker Morris Charity Calendar competition.     Taiko enthusiasts beat a path to a concert that marked the end of a three-day Humber Taiko Festival.


    The Vale Academy’s team played two pieces in the Bath Hall, Scunthorpe, event, one of which they had composed and was well received.

     Compere Emma Middleton, a member of Humber Taiko’s main performance group Coritani, was keen to learn it.

    Don’t forget – former students can say a fond farewell to the existing buildings on Friday, 25th November.

    All are welcome between 6pm and 8pm.

    There will be a display of memorabilia and photographs from the past plus a chance to sample old-style, school dinner puddings as well as tour the buildings which will close for good on Tuesday 13th December.

  • Year 8 Trip to Normandy

    This year we would like to offer Year 8 the opportunity to visit the Normandie region in France.

    The France trip will take place from Friday 26th May 2017 to Monday 29th May 2017.  We are planning to go to the Normandie region (north of France) and we will stay at the Chateau du Baffy.  This is set in lovely grounds in the countryside and is regularly used for educational visits.     On 15th November Media students attended the Leeds International Film Festival screening of Goosebumps. During this event students attended a post screening talk where they had the opportunity to learn more about the BBFC and the classification process.

    The event was held in Leeds Town Hall which added a surreal and scary feeling to an already mysterious showing!

  • 64 Million Artists Project

    16th November 2016 - Hull Trinity House Academy

    On Wednesday 15th of November a small group of year 10 students, visited The Octagon to take part in the 64 Million Artists initiative.  This project will enable different groups across the city to issue a weekly creative challenge to the people of Hull. This is a city of culture event.

    Once again we are planning to hold a non-uniform day to raise money for Children in Need on Friday 18th November.  In keeping with this year’s theme, students are encouraged to wear something spotty, preferably in their House colours. We are requesting a minimum donation of £1 from each student.  Lessons will take place as normal although extra money may be needed for any activities that take place at lunchtime or through tutors.  Traditionally, we share the proceeds of the day between Children in Need and

    There was a buzz of excitement around our academy this week as pupils in Years 7 and 8 collected their brand new FREE Bookbuzz books. Students spent time picking books from the exciting titles that were on offer. The books were supplied by The Booktrust, an independent reading and writing charity.

    This year there were 12 specially selected titles to choose from including: Eagle in the Snow by Michael Morpurgo, I am Malala and Gorilla Dawn by Gill Lewis.

    In November this year, eighteen of our Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students had the opportunity to take part in the Debate Mate programme. Debate Mate is an after school activity that teaches students the importance of thoroughly researching a debate topic, critically evaluating the information they have gathered, developing an opinion on the topic, then debating the issues raised.
