  • Year 5/6 CSI Workshop

    27th March 2017 - Weelsby Academy

    Y5/6 children had a CSI workshop last week.  They learned all about how the police use different aspects of forensic science to solve crimes.  They had the opportunity to take DNA swabs from each other and take their own fingerprints.  Finally, they had to investigate a “crime scene”, look at all the clues carefully and come up with a hypothesis about what might have happened.

  • School of Rock London trip is a great success

    27th March 2017 - De Warenne Academy

    30 Students and Staff travelled to London on Thursday 23rd March to see School of Rock at the New London Theatre. Students are due to perform the show in July and therefore got a good chance to see the show in action.

    The day started at the academy at 8am when the bus left for London, we arrived at the New London Theatre where students browsed and purchased most of the souvenir stand. As students took their seats the excitement began to increase. At the interval the consensus was that the show was brilliant,

  • Outward Bound Ullswater Trip Y10 2017

    27th March 2017 - De Lacy Academy

    A fantastic week had by all where we encountered all types of weather, including up to 30cm of snow on Wednesday morning!

     Students took part in activities such as gorge walking, camping, canoeing and hiking, they also experienced steam and speed boats. The students challenged themselves by working out of their comfort zone along with students from Wakefield City Academy and Crofton Academy in order to navigate up mountains, cook food in the wilderness and work with others they didn't know at the start of th

  • Reading Challenge Platinum Award

    27th March 2017 - Serlby Park Academy
     
    We are delighted to celebrate the success of Jessica in Year 4 who has just completed the Serlby Park Academy Platinum Reading Challenge Award by reading an extra twenty books.
    This is in addition to the eighteen books Jessica read to claim our coveted Gold Award.

  • Taylor Wimpey Visit

    27th March 2017 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

     

    Keith from Taylor Wimpey held an assembly for our children today to highlight the dangers of a building site.

    He told the children how builders, electricians, grounds people and anyone who works there has to wear lots of personal protection gear to help keep themselves safe.

    The children enjoyed modelling some of the personal protection clothing and watched a video about a working building site and the dangers it could hold.

     

  • Comic Relief 2017

    24th March 2017 - Worlaby Academy

    For Comic Relief 2017, the school council decided to raise money by holding a non uniform and crazy hair day. We saw lots of wonderfully crazy creations (from both the pupils and staff). We managed to raise a fantastic £87.30 - once again thank you for your generosity.

    The Arts & Craft Club have been busy with their spring creativity this week, as they have been making Easter bunnies. Following step-by-step instructions, they used small cloths, googly-eyes, pre-made faces and Cadbury’s Crème Eggs to produce the unique little Easter keepsakes.

    We were visited by some lovely animals today including calves, goats, ponies, rabbits, chickens, a tortoise and the cutiest lambs you can imagine.  The children learnt lots of different things about the animals including what they eat and how they live on the farm.

    As part of 'Make £5 blossom', the children in Year 5 have designed four the badges that will be on sale at the Academy from next week, each badge will cost 25p each. There are 4 to collect and if you buy the set then you will get a free limited edition city of culture badge!
