  • Yorkshire Wildlife Park Enrichment Trip

    7th May 2017 - St Wilfrid's Academy

    On Friday 28th April, 17 students from Key Stage 3 visited YWP for an Enrichment trip, linked to the theme of the teaching and learning this half term.  The students have been studying the topic "The Amazon" and have created South American masks in Art, studied the Geography and tribes of the Amazon basin in Humanities and English and looked at the different layers of the rainforest and the features of the plants and animals that live there in Science.

  • Maths BBQ

    5th May 2017 - John Whitgift Academy

    On Thursday 4th May 2017 our year 11 students got together for the first Maths twilight revision session taking place after school. We had 51 students attend this session where students worked tremendously hard and enjoyed the BBQ after with the nice weather we had.

    A massive thanks to the staff who helped with this.

    5th May 2017 - Weelsby Academy

    Key Stage 1 enjoyed a lovely day at Normanby Hall Country Park near Scunthorpe as part of their Enchanted Forests topic.  They learned a lot about wildlife in our ponds and lakes during a pond dipping activity.  They found pond skaters, tadpoles and damsel flies amongst other things.  A friendly fisherman also brought a perch for the children to look at which they found fascinating.  The day included a story telling activity in the forest where they used their imaginations to invent stories about fairies, t

  • Highlights from last week!

    4th May 2017 - The Elland Academy
    Students took part in PSHE drop down sesions focusing on emotional well being. Students created cards, personal profiles and prepared for up-coming exams. Some students also carried out an enterprise activitiy by washing cars with all proceeds going to cancer research. Students raised £9 in just 1 hour!

    This week the students and staff participated in some leadership games, a treasure hunt, constructed a mini assault course and made pop corn on the fire!

  • MAY ATTENDANCE COMPETITION

    3rd May 2017 - Ash Hill Academy

    The next attendance competition has now begun, with “Meerkat May”! All form groups with attendance above 97% between 2nd May 2017 and 31st May 2017 will be entered into a draw. One form in each year group will be selected at the end of the month, and will get a free day out at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park!

    For your chance to get your form group to see the animals, just make sure you attend the academy as much as possible – good luck.

  • Auschwitz Visit

    2nd May 2017 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Ross Fairweather and Hannah Coope have been selected as the Lessons from Auschwitz student ambassadors for this year and, as such, on Tuesday 4th April they visited Auschwitz 1 and 2.  They had previously attended an orientation seminar to meet fellow students and gain further information and this was followed up by another seminar following the visit after which they will be organising a presentation that they will be delivering to other students in their collective worship assemblies.
