    On a misty morning in mid-October, Ellie, the Ethan’s and Harrison met Emma for a serious art work out.

    Having studied the impressionist artist Monet, the pupils were armed with their chalk pastel drawings in the smudgy style of the great master.  It was to be his waterlilies that were going to be transported into felts.

    Rapidly, the four pupils were fully engaged, layering, colour blending and finally the challenging, exhausting process of the irreversible change!  A thousand rolls to make the felt.  It was

    The Year 11 Parents Evening will take place on Thursday 16th November between 4:30pm and 7:00 pm. All students have been issued an appointment sheet at school and your son/charge should book the appointment slots direct with their subject teachers.

    South Yorkshire Police are offering a free advice session at Lifewise at Hellaby on Tuesday 28/11/17 Children & Internet Safety, this session would be of value to parents/carers.

    This session is free to attend, you just need to book on as places are limited.

  • Year 11 Careers Fair

    14th November 2017 - Hull Trinity House Academy

    Parents and carers are invited to attend the careers event in the Sports Hall between 2pm and 3pm on Thursday 16th November.

    Unfortunately you will be unable to speak to teachers at this time, therefore please ask your son/charge to book appointments for Parents Evening.

  • Road Safety Assemblies

    14th November 2017 - Manor Croft Academy

    The fire service were in school this week delivering hard hitting assemblies on road safety to students in Years 7 to 10.  They also carried out a demonstration on how they cut passengers out of a car that has been involved in a road traffic accident.

  • Year 6 Robotics Day

    14th November 2017 - Willows Academy

    On November 14th 2017 a group of 8 children went to Oasis Academy Nunsthorpe for a robotics day. We had a series of challenges to complete including: building the robot shell, playing intense football, skittles, and sumos!

  • Prison Me! No Way!

    Today, all of Year 9 were participating in the interactive Prison Me No Way program. Students were involved in workshops using both role play and discussion to understand how the justice system works. 

     

  • Remembrance Day 2017

    To mark Remembrance Day, secondary students have been visited by Ann Hickman from The Royal British Legion, known affectionately to our students as Poppy Lady! Ann delivered assemblies to each year group where students and staff learned how our donations are used to support injured soldiers and bereaved families.     Students from the student council attended a service at the War Memorial in Rossington and laid a wreath on behalf of students and staff at the academy.

  • Anti-Bullying Week 2017

    Anti-bullying week 2017 is being held this week between 13th and 17th November. It is a great way to take a stand against bullying and raise awareness in our Academy. Bullying doesn’t just affect children but adults too.

    If you have any concerns about your child being bullied please contact your childs Learning Manager for support.

  • Governor's Tea Party

    13th November 2017 - John Whitgift Academy
    Students, parents and staff enjoyed the termly Governors' Tea Party. Those students who were invited had achieved outstanding attendance and reports; achieving an Effort grade 1 from each of their teachers, proving that they are 'model' students who are keen to learn and always strive for excellence in their work with a positive and proactive attitude. Most encouraging of all is the fact that each term the numbers seem to double and it is an excellent way to celebrate and reward our outstanding students. [

    This week students are taking part in the Into-Film Festival. Years 11's had the whole cinema to themselves to watch Their Finest. Year 10  students will be watching the classic film Close Encounters of The Third Kind.  

  • Odd Socks for Anti-Bullying

    13th November 2017 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    This week is anti-bullying week and to help raise awareness we wore odd socks on Monday to show that being different is okay!

    We had long, short, stripy, fluffy, spotty, character and even donut patterned socks and every year group including Little Grangers joined in with the fun.

    Recently, all the children at Willow Green took part in a sponsored spell with all proceeds going to the NSPCC. With the generosity of family and friends and the hard work of the children, Willow Green Academy raised an amazing £1618.65!
