    14th January 2016 - Garforth Academy

    Last week forty one Year 8 students were treated to two days of religious inquiry and sightseeing of one of the world’s most iconic cities.

    With the support of a Tour Guide from Galina International Study Tours, pupils were given access and tours London Central Mosque, St Pauls Cathedral, Westminster Cathedral and Neasden Mandir. The respect of the students for places of worship and the professionalism of the faithful leading the tours created an atmosphere of awe, intrigue and learning. It was truly an ‘ey

    On Tuesday 12th January Meerkats, Tigers & Panthers went to Hull Universify for a lecture on Senses, some of the children were asked to participate during the course of the afternoon.

  • Y8 Ambitions Programme

    11th January 2016 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    A group of identified year 8 students took part in their annual visit to Sutton Bonnington Campus which is part of the University of Nottingham.  Our students were a credit to the Academy and to themselves in how they engaged with day and all the activities that were completed.

    Students had the chance to begin to plan their thoughts around what jobs they might like to do in the future and what subjects they are currently doing. The mapped out what they thought they were good at, and what they enjoyed to help

  • Apprenticeships Presentation

    On Monday 11th January Rebecca Reid from Interserve gave a presentation to our students regarding Apprenticeships and the opportunities that will become available from the completion of one.

    The presentation took place in the sixth form café area and almost 100 students attended to find out more about apprenticeships.

    The Spring Mock Exams will be taking place over the last three weeks of the Spring Term.

    We had lots of fantastic Christmas celebrations. Our Christmas fayre raised over £600, Christmas lunch was delicious as usual, our parties and concerts were all great successes and Santa was very busy visiting us in school as well as meeting our foundation children on the Middleton Railway.

    The academy held a charity event to support the 'Save the Children' and the 'Text Santa' campaign on the last day of term.

    The total amount raised was £217.86.

    On Wednesday the Simnet Challenge team from KC arrived in the academy to work with Year's 4 & 5. They bring to life how the internet works with this exciting hands on activity.Both classes enjoyed the experience and now have a sound knowledge of how this important communication link works.

  • New addition to 6F

    5th January 2016 - Wybers Wood Academy

    Pupils in class 6F welcomed 'SNAKEY' as a new arrival to their class today.  He is a very friendly corn snake who is coming to stay for a while.  Pupils will learn all about him over the coming weeks.

  • Non-uniform day raises £602

    4th January 2016 - De Warenne Academy

    Chelsea Rose Cartwright was a student at De Warenne Academy from 2006 to 2014. Chelsea suffered from leukaemia but fought it bravely.  After beating it once the disease returned and Chelsea tragically passed away at the age of just 20 on 15 October 2015.

    Students wished to remember Chelsea and on Friday 18 December 2015 the academy held a non-uniform day with a focus on Chelsea's favourite colour, purple.  The response from students and staff was fantastic and £893 was raised on that day. The money will be g
