  • Fire Crew visit

    17th February 2016 - Grange Lane Infant Academy

    Thank you to the fire crew who came to visit reception and year 2.

    They explained to the children the job of the fire service, how they deal with emergencys and what we should do if we have an emergency of our own! The dangers of fire, how to ring the fire service and staying safe were all explained to the children.

  • Half Term Activities

    14th February 2016 - The Elland Academy

    It may be half term here at TEA but that does not stop us providing activities and creating memories for our students. On Monday 15th February and Tuesday 16th February PC Hides and students will be horse riding and having a day out at the stables. On behalf of everyone at TEA, have a lovely break and see you on Monday 22nd February 2016 for the start of an exciting new term!

  • Chinese New Year Celebrations!

    11th February 2016 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    On Thursday 11th February, we loved celebrating the Chinese New Year. A huge Chinese Dragon visited the academy to help us with our celebrations, which Penguins particulaly enjoyed!. Frogs and Spiders loved making delicious barbecue chicken as part of their celebrations. Lions and Ladybirds created a dancing dragon and learnt some Chinese numbers. Butterflies made a Chinese drum and wrote instructions, so others would be able make one too. They also compared Hull and China, finding out all about the similar

  • Swimming Competition

    11th February 2016 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    A huge well done to all who represented the academy this afternoon at the Hull Schools' Swimming Competition: Ellie and Annie came first and second in their heats. Ellie won both of her individual races, with the fastest time in front crawl, she was also the third fastest swimmer overall in the 25m backstroke. Well done to Lucy and Katie who came 3rd out of 39 pupils in the 25m front crawl sprint and backstroke respectively! fantastic representatives of the academy!   • Chinese New Year 2016 - Year of the Monkey-SM

    10th February 2016 - The Grove Academy

    On Monday 8th of February, KS3 had a special timetable.  Chinese Maths, run by Mrs Morris and Mr Sancho, taught the pupils how the Chinese can calculate huge numbers.  Instead of multiplying they simply lay the numbers out in a certain manner and then add them together.

    Pupils also experienced the process of creating badges with Mr Hamilton and Mr Turner. They researched their own Chinese horoscope images from the internet, and then used the special equipment to make them.

  • Champion Schools Yorkshire Semi Final

    10th February 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    After the Huddersfield Giants evening earlier in the week the Year 8 rugby team put in an excellent performance against a really strong Malet Lambert (Hull) squad.

    Manor Croft won the game 29 - 22 with an outstanding team ethic, discipline and team performance.

    The Year 8 rugby team will now progress to the Champion School Yorkshire Final which is due to be played on the 14th of April (KO time TBC).

  • Year 8 Prevent / Extremism Workshops

    10th February 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Wednesday 10th February the Kirklees Prevent Team were in school to deliver a series of workshops specifically designed to address the issues of extremism and radicalisation in society.  Year 8 students were immersed in lively debates surrounding these issues and their awareness of such an important topic was raised considerably.

    On behalf of NCTL, SPTA Teaching School Alliance is delighted to host the Doncaster region Train to Teach roadshow event at Rossington All Saints Academy.  Train to Teach - Doncaster will be an opportunity to meet organisations that deliver teacher training in the Doncaster area.  A range of providers will be at the event to advise on different teacher training options, courses and entry requirements, how to apply and prepare for interview.

  • Kirklees Youth Summit

    9th February 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Tuesday 9th February the Kirklees Youth Summit was held at Manor Croft in the main hall from 4.00 pm until 6.00 pm.  Young people from five high schools in Dewsbury and Mirfield attended the summit which was led by Kirklees Council.  Local councillors, youth workers, teachers and young people were actively engaged in debating the important issues affecting young people in the local area and the awareness of local issues was raised significantly.  Michelle Ross, organiser, said "It was a fantastic evening

  • Phonics Workshop for Parents

    9th February 2016 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    On Tuesday 9th February, we held a phonics workshop for parents, friends and families. It was great to hear how  beneficial those who came found it. They said that they loved the resources we gave out to help their children with phonics at home, and had much more undertstanding of how we taught phonics in the academy!

  • 9A Enterprise

    8th February 2016 - The Elland Academy

    Year 9 have been learning about the process of making and selling a product. Students have researched the valentines card market, worked as part of a production team, created a selection of valentines cards for sale and are selling them to academy staff and students this week. The students have shown some excellent enterprise skills and we are sure Lewis has a future in project management! Well done Year 9.
