Race for life

Well done to all of the children, staff and parents for supporting us with the race for life.  We have raised a fantastic amount of money, the grand total to date is £1067.50!!

  • Canoeing

    28th April 2016 - The Grove Academy

    Last week a group of our Year 11 students went on an introductory kayaking session at Glasshouses Dam. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day that  started off dry but became progressively wetter as the students became more confident and insisted upon splashing the teachers at every opportunity!

  • Football :North Lincs School U15 Shield

    27th April 2016 - Melior Community Academy

    Melior were triumphant on 27th April in the North Lincs School U15 Shield.

    Our Year 10 boys football team won the North Lincs School Under-15 Shield after a closely fought match with Sir John Nelthorpe School.

    The match was won on penalties (9-8) after a 1-1 draw, Connor Moore being our goalscorer. Well Done!

  • Look at our new library wall!

    27th April 2016 - Wybers Wood Academy

    After many years of being on our wish list, we have finally got our library wall painted.  The design has been chosen by all our pupils through their Class Council Meetings.  We have a woodland scene which includes all the animals from our class names and Nutkin!

  • Careers Club

    27th April 2016 - Garforth Academy

    On Monday 25th April 2016 Alessandro Creazza from Hull University presented at our careers club, he was both extremely friendly and approachable, with a very interesting background.

    Alessandro discussed what life is like is like at University, balancing work/ social life, choosing the right course, student loans and grants etc.


    The session was very informative and we had a good turnout from all year groups.

    All our breakfast club staff and pupils enjoyed celebrating the Queens 90th Birthday with a full english breakfast to start off the day.

    Year 3 & 4 pupils attended the South Yorkshire Cross Country finals after qualifying from the regional heats in Doncaster earlier on this year.

  • Digital Art: Monday 25th April

    In preparation for being part of the City of Culture, some of our chidlren enjoyed a Digital Art day with the Children's University. They made apps and videos to promote the Hull Maritime Museum to tourists. The children returned from the visit very enthusiastic and couldnt wait to showcase their work to others.

  • Maun Valley Citizens

    25th April 2016 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    The day arrived! The Accountability Assembly for Maun Valley Citizens was held on Monday 25 April at Vision West Nottinghamshire College and over 420 people attended the evening.  

    The Community Manager, Mrs Riley, is extremely proud to have been part of the growing Maun Valley Citizens alliance over the past two years.  This year at the assembly we had representation from schools, churches and community groups across the Ashfield area which was amazing.

  • Year 11 Intervention

    22nd April 2016 - Melior Community Academy

    As part of the on- going strategy to maximize the chances of each of our year 11 learners, we have put together a refined package of intervention that will be followed through to the examination. What this means is that as Core PE has come to a conclusion, students will be removed from this lesson in order to increase their chances in other subjects. Students will instead attend intervention sessions, thus creating additional revision time and lessening the pressure on the students involved.

    22nd April 2016 - Simpsons Lane Academy

    28 children from Year 5/6 spent this week at Crowden Outdoor Education in Derbyshire.  We had a fantastic week taking part in a range of outdoor activities and the sun even shone!  The children had the opportunity to try lots of new things and it was great to see them having so much fun!
