  • SPTA Games

    9th May 2016 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Some of our pupils took part last week in the SPTA Games at the England Institute of Sport at Sheffield. They did us all proud coming second overall in the primary school section, Well Done to all who took part. The pupils also received inspiration from the Gold Medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill.

    9th May 2016 - Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School

    Year 2 recently visited Sunnybank nursery as part of their plant - how do they grow? project. They had a lovely morning and enjoyed the delicious ice-cream as a treast at the end of their visit.

  • Launch of School Council

    7th May 2016 - The Elland Academy

    The School Council meets regularly and discuss’ a range of possible and practical improvements for the class, the buildings and the Academy in general. Issues and concerns raised by pupils go through their Year Representatives (who have been duly elected), by putting the issue in writing and posting it into the letter box in the canteen or via their Personal Learning Advocate.

    Ethel Wainwright Day – Friday 6th May

    Every year, as part of our curriculum enrichment, we celebrate ‘Ethel Wainwright Day’.  As a school we are extremely proud to be named after Ethel Wainwright as she achieved so much in her lifetime and worked tirelessly to improve the education for children in Mansfield. We want our children to learn about inspirational people whose lives have had an impact on modern Britain and the wider world.  Ethel was certainly one of these people!

    5th May 2016 - Worlaby Academy

    Come and join in with running club, every Thursday after school with Mrs Grey, Ms Carnaby and Mrs A Clark. The children warm up in the playground and then go for a run in the village.

  • Success at SPTA Games

    5th May 2016 - Melior Community Academy

    Our students once again did an outstanding job of representing the academy on Wednesday, 4th May.

    The annual SPTA games were held at The English Institue of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield, one of the country's largest multi-sports training centre. The competition is split into four categories, Under 13 Boys, Under 13 Girls, Under 15 Boys and Under 15 Girls.

  • We are the Champions!

    5th May 2016 - The Vale Academy

    Olympic golden girl Jessica Ennis-Hill was on hand when The Vale Academy was crowned Under 13 and 15 champions at the School Partnership Trust Academies games.

    The two boys’ and girls’ teams represented the school at our sponsor’s annual event held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield, Ennis-Hill’s base.

    The gold medallist from London 2012 is preparing for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the event coincided with her training schedule.

  • Auschwitz Visit

    5th May 2016 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Two sixth form students have just returned from a day trip to Auschwitz as part of the Lessons from Auschwitz Project run by the Holocaust Educational Trust. 


    The students took part in an orientation seminar last week before their early morning take off from Leeds Bradford airport to Krakow.  There they toured Auschwitz 1 and Auschwitz-Birkenau with a guide.  They felt that it was all very surreal, very quiet except for the occasional birdsong and they felt that at any time an SS guard could come round the

  • Sheffield Games

    4th May 2016 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    On Wednesday 4th May children from Year 4 and 5 went to the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield to take part in the SPTA Primary Games and finished a respectable 6th. The children loved being able to compete in such an impressive venue!

    Our pupils represented Wybers Wood at the SPTA Games event held at the Institute of Sport in Sheffield.  It was a fantastic day and there was the added bonus of meeting Jessica Ennis-Hill!

  • Tour de Yorkshire Triumph

    The choir were magnificent at the Tour de Yorkshire on Saturday and represented England Lane exceptionally well. Thanks to all children, staff and parents who attended and special thanks, once again, to Nicky and Toni for organising it all.

  • Playground Leaders

    We have invested in a trolley filled with new sports equipment for the children to use during their social times. The children are already enjoying using this equipment and we are seeing a greater interest in a number of different competitive sports that they can access.

  • Sport Relief

    2nd May 2016 - Pheasant Bank Academy

    Congratulations to all the children for raising a massive £1226.06 for Sport Relief 2016. The children all dressed up in red, baked cakes to sell during break times, as well as being sponsored to take part in a Haka Dance.

    Furthermore, a special thanks to all the support when biking into school that morning after setting off at 4am from Barnsley. It made it all worthwhile. What a fantastic welcoming.
