  • Queen's Birthday Celebrations!

    10th June 2016 - Wybers Wood Academy

    The whole of Wybers Wood celebrated the Queen's 90th Birthday today.   We had a Queen's Concert in the main hall which was fantastic, then a Queen's Picnic Lunch and an afternoon full of fun activities.  Happy Birthday to our Queen!

  • An Olympic Athlete is on his way to Estcourt!

    10th June 2016 - Estcourt Primary Academy

    We are EXCITED to be welcoming GB Athlete James Denny to the academy on Tuesday 14th June.

    James will be leading some energetic fitness circuits with the children and hosting an assembly with a Q&A session to help inspire the children into more sport and exercise. We will also be holding our annual assault course on the same day.

    We are asking the Academy community to help by sponsoring the children in these two events in order to raise funds for Estcourt Primary Academy. All children have been given sponsor

  • Kirklees Safeguarding Roadshow

    10th June 2016 - Manor Croft Academy

    On Friday 10th June 2016 the Kirklees Safeguarding team hosted their Roadshow Event at Manor Croft.  The event was attended by Years 9 and 10 and students had the opportunity to discuss important safeguarding issues such as child sexual exploitation, sexting, drug and alcohol misuse, domestic violence, sexual health and private fostering.  The event was a huge success and students left with a huge amount of crucial information...and some freebies!  One Year 10 student said, "The roadshow was great.  I learn

  • Queen's birthday celebrations

    10th June 2016 - Worlaby Academy

    What a great time was had today by the children as we celebrated the Queens 90th Birthday. We started the day by making crowns, flags and bunting. A special lunch was served in the playground as the tables were set up in a street party style. That was followed by traditional games and ice creams. Jack R in Year 2 said “today was my best day EVER at school!” 

    The children were very impressed and we all felt really proud to receive a letter from the Queen!!

     

  • East Hull Culture Cabs with KCOM

    On Friday we were lucky enough to be one of four schools choosen to work on this new and exciting project.

    KCOM have teamed up with the Freedom Festival Arts Trust and influential local artists to visit four local schools to inspire pupils to create designs that will transform ordinary street cabinets into works of art to celebrate the Lightstream rollout in East Hull.

    Students from Year 8 and Year 9 attended the regional Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) finals at Huddersfield University.  As part of the day they had to work collaboratively with other schools to...

    -Build a sensitive robot

    -Build a Vehicle prototype

    -Create an E-FIT image of a suspect from a crime

    -Use chemical tests to diagnose illnesses of the respiratory and urinary systems.

    Thank you to those staff members who helped out in Maths on Monday 23th May 2016 and others that really engaged in being challenged and beaten by the student’s high skills and ability.

    The students were awesome and brilliant all day, fully focused and determined to succeed.

    Every student and staff that entered the room left with a proud smile across their face and asked please sir can we stay for longer, others stayed during their break to try and accomplish their goals.

    Today the children in Reception saw a fire engine which came to visit school.We had chance to look at all the equipment, go and have a sit inside it and then we heard the really loud sirens and saw the flashing lights.

    The Vale Academy honours those who fell at the Somme.  To mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme, The Vale Academy is inviting students, parents and governors to take part in its commemoration event at the academy on Friday, 1st July 2016 at 7.15am.  The event is at this time to conicide with the time 100 years ago when the soldiers went 'over the top'.

    We would like to congratulate Nicola from the Meerkats class on writing her second published book. Nicola joined our Academy last year when she had already written her first book of her experiences of her life to that point. Since Nicola has joined the Academy we have been extremely proud of her resilience towards her learning and mobility, this is recognised by others as she has been nominated for a national diversity award.   • Handball hits new high

    7th June 2016 - The Vale Academy

    Students from The Vale Academy put North Lincolnshire on the handball map.

     

    The Olympic sport sees two teams of seven players - six outfield and a goalkeeper - pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.

    It was introduced in the PE curriculum last year and is popular, with a lunchtime club also well attended throughout the year.

     The under 13 and under 15 boys and girls’ teams represented North Lincolnshire in the East Midlands Schools’ Handball Tournament at Nott

  • Cup triumph

    6th June 2016 - The Vale Academy

    The Vale Academy’s under 14 footballers came from a goal behind to beat Baysgarth School in the final of the Scunthorpe and District Cup.

    The Brigg side had beaten South Axholme Academy, Outwood Foxhills Academy and Frederick Gough School on their way to the final, played at Baysgarth in Barton.

    The final proved a close fought game against a very good Baysgarth team, said house leader Richard Hughes.
