  • Happy Easter

    School will now be closed from Monday 4th April  and we will return to school on Monday 18th April.

  • Easter Cake Sale

    30th March 2016 - The Elland Academy

    During enterprise sessions students organised a bake sale to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Students created posters and baked all the cakes which were sold during break and lunch time. Lots of staff members and students bought cakes helping our students to raise £41 on the day.

    I am Fahmida a year 7 student at The South Leeds Academy, and on the 9th March I attended Leeds City Council’s Inner South Community Committee which took place at our academy.

    Lots of people gathered at our academy to take a look around the various business stalls and speak with the staff on each stall about the careers at their business.     The annual Festival Of Science, held at the University of Leeds is an opportunity for students to visit the campus, attend sample lectures and ask questions about courses and life  at the prestigious academic institution. This year, ten of our Year 8 and 9 students were invited to participate in the HESCO Engineering Challenge. The challenge, sponsored HESCO, required the group to take a scaled down sample product manufactured by the company, determine its uses and reverse engineer the parts. The group had

    Nottinghamshire County Council currently provide our school dinners and this is contract is coming to an end at Easter. We have been working hard to find the best provider for our school dinners. Some of our pupils have helped us on this mission and they joined us on a great day out where different providers brought us their food to sample.


    We are pleased to say that our school dinners will be provided by a company called Chartwells; a leading provider in primary school meals in the UK.

  • Year 6 English Booster Sessions

    29th March 2016 - Wainwright Primary Academy

    In preparation for the Year 6 SATs in May, we will be offering two booster sessions for English before school on a Wednesday and Thursday morning. The sessions will be from 8:30 – 9:00am. The sessions will start after the Easter holiday (Wednesday 20th & Thursday 21st April) and run every week until the exams. The last booster sessions will be Thursday 5th May.

    During the session your child will be offered toast and juice.

  • Southwell Minster Visit

    29th March 2016 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    The whole of the Academy community, staff and students, visited Southwell Minster on Tuesday 29th March 2016 for an Easter Celebration Service. This was the first time the whole Academy community had visited the Minster and after the success of the event this will become an annual event in the future.

    The service was led by Fr Matthew Askey from the Minster and the Academy Chaplain, Mrs S Smart. The service focussed on the vision statement of the Academy: Seek Justice, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly with Your God.

    As part of the University of Leeds Festival of Science, fifteen of our talented Year 8 and 9 students visited the Earth Science Laboratory. The laboratory is a state of the art facility that allows undergraduate and post graduate students to carry out innovative and ground breaking research using the excellent facilities.   • Dinner Day 2016

    24th March 2016 - Hull Trinity House Academy

    Yesterday was our annual Dinner Day. All the boys were outstanding during our whole Academy parade and inspection from the Master Warden, the Principal and School Captain. Following this, KS4 students attended their Chapel Service followed by a lunch with the Brethren. As usual, it was a very special day for the Academy and the Year 11 students.

  • Rugby proves big hit

    Enthusiastic girls took part in their first rugby tournament since the sport was introduced to the PE curriculum.

    Mrs Taylor took 14 Year 8 students to Lincolnshire Rugby Club in Nettleham  where they played nine, seven-a-side games against other county schools.

    Mrs Taylor said the matches, with tackling and uncontested scrums, had given the girls an excellent first experience of competitive rugby.

  • Bishop Paul's Visit

    24th March 2016 - Queen Elizabeth's Academy

    Bishop Paul Williams walked the Stations of the Cross with a group of students when he visited Queen Elizabeth’s Academy on Maundy Thursday.

    The group, which also included the Principal, Mike Smith, Chair of Governors Pam Bishop and the Academy Chaplain Steph Smart, paused at each station to pray and reflect with Bishop Paul.

    Each station was represented by a beautiful piece of artwork on the walls of the cloisters at the Academy. The art had been produced by  students.

  • Sport Relief 2016 @ TSLA

    23rd March 2016 - The South Leeds Academy

    The Interact Club were hard at work last week during period 6, baking buns for sport Relief with the help of the technology department. Chocolate chip cookies and banana and chocolate buns were expertly made and sold on a stall during break time, along with Sport Relief bands to support such a worthy cause. All proceeds will be donated straight to Sport Relief, and the Interact Club would like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated by buying buns or bands.
