  • Netball aces

    13th May 2016 - The Vale Academy

    A fantastic year for netball was crowned by three teams representing North Lincolnshire in the Humber Schools’ Games finals.

    The teams from Year 7, 8 and 10 travelled to St Mary’s College in Hull to take on the region’s best after winning their district competitions, held at St Bede’s in Scunthorpe.

    As the country prepares to decide one of the most important political questions in modern history, several of our 6th Formers, along with members of the Year 11 Debate Club, had the opportunity to attend an In/Out    Referendum Debate held at St. George’s Church in Leeds. The event was a lively affair, as a panel of passionate and articulate guests put forward their reasons for either leaving or remaining in the European Union.   • World Record Attempt

    12th May 2016 - Rossington All Saints Academy

    Lindsy James, Active Fusion Director, will attempt to set the world record for the fastest female to complete a half marathon whilst pushing a baby in a pram at the Derby Half Marathon on Sunday 5th June.

    Lindsy will be aiming to beat the existing world record of 1 hour 30 minutes and 51 seconds set in 2001 by the USA’s Nancy Schubring.

    Having lost her mother, Lynne, to cancer in March last year, Lindsy felt inspired to take on this bold challenge and raise money for both Macmillan Cancer Support, Ramathon’

  • Garforth Elections

    12th May 2016 - Garforth Academy

    This term our student council have been looking at the local election and finding out about the candidates and the different political parties they represent. This information was then shared with all students during form time to ensure everyone had a good understanding of what the local elections were about and what each of the different parties policies were.

  • Y4 Trip to Lincoln Castle

    11th May 2016 - Wybers Wood Academy

    Y4 pupils had a great time and learned a lot during their visit to The Lincoln Castle.  They visited the dungeons, the grounds and saw lots of artefacts in the classroom.  They even got to try on some armour. Even Nutkin had a go.

    Some of our pupils took part last week in the SPTA Games at the England Institute of Sport at Sheffield. They did us all proud coming second overall in the primary school section, Well Done to all who took part. The pupils also received inspiration from the Gold Medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill.

    Year 2 recently visited Sunnybank nursery as part of their plant - how do they grow? project. They had a lovely morning and enjoyed the delicious ice-cream as a treast at the end of their visit.

  • Launch of School Council

    The School Council meets regularly and discuss’ a range of possible and practical improvements for the class, the buildings and the Academy in general. Issues and concerns raised by pupils go through their Year Representatives (who have been duly elected), by putting the issue in writing and posting it into the letter box in the canteen or via their Personal Learning Advocate.

  • Bali Rai Visit

    6th May 2016 - The South Leeds Academy

    At the beginning of May, award-winning author, Bali Rai, visited the academy to discuss the importance of literacy and share his passion for reading and libraries. The day stared with a lecture from the author, who described in great detail his multi-cultural upbringing and his journey to become the professional writer he is today. Crediting his success with an innate love of books and an overactive imagination, he told tales of his youth in Leicester and how his early childhood helped shape the characters

    Every year, as part of our curriculum enrichment, we celebrate ‘Ethel Wainwright Day’.  As a school we are extremely proud to be named after Ethel Wainwright as she achieved so much in her lifetime and worked tirelessly to improve the education for children in Mansfield. We want our children to learn about inspirational people whose lives have had an impact on modern Britain and the wider world.  Ethel was certainly one of these people!

    5th May 2016 - Worlaby Academy

    Come and join in with running club, every Thursday after school with Mrs Grey, Ms Carnaby and Mrs A Clark. The children warm up in the playground and then go for a run in the village.
