  • Stranger Danger

    13th July 2018 - Melior Community Academy

    The Academy reacted quickly this morning after an incident involving two girls on their way to school.

     

    Students, parents and other schools were alerted after three men in a white Ford Transit-style van grabbed one of their bags while they were walking along Merlin Road.

     

    The police are investigating and keeping an open mind on whether it was an attempted robbery or something more sinister.

     

    Principal Ms Zoe Bidmead said parents should remind children of Stranger Danger.

  • JWA visit the Grimsby Skills Fair

    13th July 2018 - John Whitgift Academy

    The whole of year 10 attended the Skills Fair at Grimsby Auditorium on the 12th July. The event was to show the students just what opportunities are on offer in the NE Lincs region and beyond.  Students were able to discuss careers with both Franklin and Grimsby Institute, as well as representatives from The British Army, The Royal Navy, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, the NHS and many other local companies.

    12th July 2018 - Hull Trinity House Academy

    The annual Hull Trinity House Academy Sports day was held on Wednesday 20Th June at Costello Stadium

     Hull Trinity House Academy has been keeping the records of all track events since we began our sports day at Costello Stadium in 1987. However, in 1995 students were admitted to the school in year 7 whereas previously it was year 9, therefore records were re-written accordingly.

    11th July 2018 - Green Lane Primary Academy

     

     Leeds Council Road Safety Team visited Y1, Y2 and Y4 this week.

    There was some classroom teaching follwed by practical outdoor training to promote safer crossing procedures.

    Y4 Skipping finals!

    When we arrived at Leeds Beckett University, we realised how well we had done just to reach the finals!

    Nervously, our team completed their individual skipping tasks and then came the skip dance, which was to the Greatest Show.  We did amazing and although we didn’t win, we came third in the skip dance.  The children should be so proud of themselves, as they were extremely well behaved and put on ‘The Greatest Show!’

  • Fun and frolicks as year 5 visit JWA

    11th July 2018 - John Whitgift Academy

    Over the course of the last week of June and the beginning of July, John Whitgift Academy welcomed local primary schools for fun-filled activity days hosted by JWA staff and students.

    Year 5 students were given a taster of what secondary school is all about, including: a guided tour of The Academy; learning a street dance routine with a professional dance teacher; driving our Green Power electric car (built by our very talented JWA students); creating stunning artwork; taking a dip in the JWA swimming pools

    Congratulations to King House who have won the Technology Rocket Challenge on both weeks this year.

    Last week's winners were:

    Damien Houghton and Daniel Peart with 28.7m in the final.

    This week's winners were:

    Leah Lawton and Troy Dark with 34.6m in the final.

    Damien and Daniel hold this year's overall rocket record of 47.4m.

    As we move to the revised house system in September the record for each house will now stand for all time as:

    We are delighted to announce that 2 groups of Year 10 students from Serlby Park Academy reached the grand finals of the prestigious annual Ryman National Enterprise Challenge, the UK’s largest school’s enterprise education competition.     It’s been a very busy time here at Serlby Park Academy in the last few weeks.
