World Book Day 2013

7th March 2013

On Thursday the 7th March, all of the children and staff at Hatfield Woodhouse Primary School dressed up in their pyjamas to celebrate World Book Day!

The children started the day by finding out about the event in a whole school assembly and then they were read a story by a teacher from a different class.

As part of this event, we also took the opportunity to launch our new 'buddy' system, where each child was paired up with a child in another year group. The aim is to ensure that children have a mentor and friend in other areas of the school.

Today the children met their buddies and they were able to spend time reading to each other. Rosie in Year 6 was paired with Caitlyn in Year 2, and she said "It was really good as we could see how well Year 2 were reading and compare their books to ours."

The staff and students really enjoyed the day and we will continue to build upon the great work and relationships established today.

We were also able to raise some money to send to Bookaid who buy books for children in Africa - so thank you for your contributions!
